Fan made story: Giant reptile Godzilla vs elder god Cthulhu

The city of Tokyo had grown used to the occasional battles between Godzilla and other monsters the height of skyscrapers. For all the deaths citizens would have to endure during these catastrophes their admiration for their savior Godzilla grew greater with each passing disaster that he put an end to. But the majority of citizens still disrespected the giant reptile. Some thought he was the reason for the fighting, claiming that likely the other monsters purposely came to wreak Tokyo expecting the undefeated champion of them all to show up so that they would get a chance to battle him.

Other people thought he did a poor job of avoiding collateral damage during his battles. Only a few were smart enough to sense his desire to protect. But one thing was for certain the city needed Godzilla now more than ever. At about two in the morning one day a cloud shadowing over the entire city sent several burst of electric sparks out from it. Every last light throughout the metropolis went out, and every last citizen and their grandmother woke up.

Out came Cthulhu from the cloud and he hovered above the city. He pointed his one index finger at a group of high rises and they instantly vaporized into dust, not leaving behind any rubble. Nobody ever knew how Godzilla was able to make it to Tokyo so soon during panic, but most likely he never traveled as far away as most might think. Always staying within a handful of miles from the city in the ocean below it. Godzilla emerged from the water by the shoreline and made his way within a few hundred feet of Cthulhu levitating in the sky above him.

Only to then see that he was almost infinitely outmatched by the elder god. Godzilla indeed stood at an impressive four hundred feet tall, often being a few tens of feet taller than his other sizable formidable opponents, but Cthulhu was ten thousand feet in height. While nearly everybody felt it was instinctive to bow before the size of Godzilla whether it was in respect or fear, Godzilla was still not one to do the same even when it was his first time facing a beast so much larger than him. However, he was smart enough to play it safe. Instead of initiating battle with his atomic breath, he let out a roar to get Cthulhu’s attention.

Cthulhu chased after him. This was were Godzilla regretted every last running step he took to lure the monster god away from the city, as he certainly damaged the streets and put a few titan-sized dents in the buildings surrounding him. He made it back to the shoreline and leaped into the water to evade Cthulhu flying above him, now not being able to see what happened to his challenger. Being a beast that spent nearly all of his time in the sky, the ocean appeared to be a foreign substance to him and he didn’t feel comfortable going into it.

Godzilla suddenly stuck his head from out of the water and fired an atomic blast, it doing no more than lightly burning one of Cthulhu’s bearded tentacles. Godzilla submerged again frustrating Cthulhu whom couldn’t find him, prompting him to open up both his palms, then closing them, casting a spell that instantly evaporated the ocean of all its water leaving Godzilla standing to be seen by Cthulhu, surrounded by an endless amount of sea creatures ranging from fish to whales flopping on the ground. Cthulhu pointed his one finger ready to vaporize Godzilla, whom then grabbed a humpback whale off the ground and shielded himself with it, that being vaporized instead.

He continued the same process as he ran back to the city, picking up whales to use as shields for a few seconds before Cthulhu vaporized them again. Godzilla got back to the streets and simply didn’t know what to do at that point. He was hoping his human scientist allies would come outside with some sort of technology to damage Cthulhu. Godzilla kept running, making sharp turns on the streets to hide behind buildings that Cthulhu would vaporize whenever he pointed his finger at him.

A fleet of jet planes flew over Cthulhu and dropped some type of spray on him that surrounded his whole body. Moments later and he severely shrank in size becoming about the same height as Godzilla. Godzilla turned around and noticed this, instantly gaining more confidence. He charged at Cthulhu whom then pointed his finger and vaporized his entire left arm.

Godzilla stopped dead in his tracks realizing he was still outmatched. He gave it everything he had and fired an atomic blast, this one sure to hurt more than the last given the shrunken elder god. Cthulhu then simply vaporized the beam as it was flying toward him in midair. From a safe distance, using the long reach of his tail, Godzilla turned around, swung it, and knocked an entire skyscraper on top of Cthulhu, this distracting him long enough for Godzilla to run around behind him, then grabbing him by the underside of his arms. He fired an atomic blast directly into the back of his head finally doing some damage as Cthulhu let a screech of pain out through the city.

Cthulhu then flew up into the air above the city, Godzilla latching onto him, but then losing his grip and falling a thousand feet to the ground, not an easy thing to survive for the mass of something so giant. Cthulhu flew back down and harshly landed its foot onto the side of Godzilla’s torso. It then bent over, grabbed him by the neck, lifted him back onto his feet, and placed his hand over his stomach and vaporized a hole into it. A deadly blow it was going to soon be indeed. But Godzilla fought through the pain even with massive amounts of his blood falling out from his body.

He swung his arm towards Cthulhu’s face whom then vaporized that one as well before the swing could even land. Godzilla then lunged his mouth out at Cthulhu’s neck and bit down into it ripping out a giant piece of his flesh. Both of the beasts then fell to the ground and submitted to their wounds.

The outcome of the fight appeared to be a draw until several minutes later Cthulhu stood back up even with half his neck gone. Being an elder god he was still able to magically live even with sustaining deadly flesh wounds, unlike the mortal Godzilla. Up to that moment Cthulhu had never even considered the possibility of encountering a being that could put up a fight against him.

Due to the surprising outcome of this event and out of respect to Godzilla and the humans who fought to save their land, he used his powers to restore all of the damage done to the city, healed the wounds of Godzilla, and refilled the ocean with water, and lastly regrew the missing flesh on his neck. He flew back up into the giant cloud he had originally came out of, both of which then vanished.

This being the first time the citizens of Tokyo saw Godzilla fight an opponent whom was sure to kill him, instead of all of the previous monsters that were chumps to him, now understanding that they really were saved seeing as how this was a fight Godzilla actually didn’t have much chance of winning, they all walked outside from their homes and gathered in circles kneeling down stretching miles throughout the entire city, hailing Godzilla as being the savior of Tokyo.
